The Danish quantum industry gathered at Quantum Industry Day 2024

With 30 exhibitors, 18 speakers and more than 300 guests, Denmark’s Quantum Industry Day 2024 brought together the entire Danish quantum industry to showcase how Denmark is doing quantum.

On June 3rd, Danish Quantum Community had the pleasure of hosting Denmark’s Quantum Industry Day 2024 – a national showcase of Denmark’s growing quantum industry with Denmark’s largest quantum exhibition to date and a series of inspirational talks from quantum experts spearheading quantum advancements.

The event was the first comprehensive gathering of the Danish quantum ecosystem. It served as both a meeting point for the quantum ecosystem and an occasion to inspire other stakeholders to engage with quantum technology. The venue at DTU Skylab was buzzing with over 300 guests – from quantum experts to investors, government officials, universities, organizations and representatives from the international quantum ecosystem.

A full showcase of the Danish quantum industry

Serving as the main attraction of the event, the quantum exhibition showcased how 30 quantum companies in Denmark are accelerating the development and application of quantum technology to solve real-world problems.

From quantum algorithms and software to hardware and component developers and from early-stage startups to established companies and international actors, the exhibition area gave a full overview of the state of Denmark’s growing quantum industry. Guests were able to engage directly with quantum companies and learn about how their quantum products and services can benefit existing industries.

Leading quantum expert shared their insights on the business potentials of quantum technology

We were honored to have the Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs of Denmark, Morten Bødskov, give the opening words at the event, highlighting the Danish government’s commitment to advancing the commercialization of quantum technology.

A series of excellent speakers provided their perspectives on the quantum industry throughout the day:

  • A panel on the business potentials of quantum technology showed the importance of long-term investments in quantum technology and collaborations between quantum developers and quantum end-users. Speakers in the panel included Peder Lundquist, CEO at the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), Astrid Kyhl from TDC NET and Hans Henrik Knudsen, CEO of Kvantify.
  • The day marked the completion of the NATO DIANA program for the first cohort of quantum startups in Denmark. Thus, the Danish quantum accelerator Deep Tech Lab – Quantum hosted the startups’ final pitch session with six pitches and a presentation of the program by NATO representatives.
  • In the final session, we gathered quantum entrepreneurs for a fireside chat about quantum innovation and building startups in the quantum space. Featuring Mark Jones from Molecular Quantum Solutions, Jonatan Kutchinsky from Quantum Machines/QDevil and Kurt Stokbro from Sparrow Quantum, the speakers shared perspectives on building both quantum hardware and software startups.
