Professor and Quantum Scientist Jan Westenkær Thomsen has been awarded IT Prisen 2025 by The Danish ICT Industry Association (IT-Branchen) and Computerworld Denmark.

His work stands builds on the legacy of Niels Bohr and a world-leading Danish research environment, and he has uniquely brought together and created the foundation for Denmark’s global quantum ecosystem in strong collaboration with companies, ministries and startups”

As motivation for awarding the prize it is highlighted how Jan as founder and former chairman of the DQC, has worked to strengthen collaboration between Danish universities, companies and public authorities, which has resulted in Denmark being recognized as a leading player in quantum technology. Under his leadership, DQC has also advised the Danish government in the design of a national quantum strategy.
Currently Jan serves on the board of The Danish Quantum Community and is the COO of NQCP (The Novo Nordisk Quantum Computing Program).
