Danish Quantum Community welcomes GlobalConnect as a New Partner

Who is GlobalConnect

GlobalConnect is one of the leading digital infrastructure and data communication providers in the Nordics, driving more than half of all data traffic in and out of the region.

GlobalConnect delivers fiber-based broadband services to more than 907,000 private consumers and end-to-end connectivity solutions to 30,000 B2B customers via its 244,000 kilometers fiber network across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Finland. GlobalConnect employs approximately 1,800 people and had a turnover of SEK 8.1 billion in 2024.

Towards quantum safe networks

In parallel with the development of quantum computers, various initiatives are underway to quantum secure critical infrastructure. GlobalConnect is heavily involved in supporting this transition and one example is involvement in the EuroQCI (Quantum Communication Infrastructure) project.

The EuroQCI project is partly funded by the EU and brings together a number of players from both universities and the business community in the EU countries and aims, among other things, to establish a quantum secure European communications network.

As part of EuroQCI and the Danish infrastructure project QCI.DK, GlobalConnect is building a 200-kilometer fiber stretch between Copenhagen and Odense. The strech is the beginning of Denmark’s first quantum-secured communication network. The network is secured through so-called quantum key distribution (QKD), a symmetric encryption method with high complexity.

We are thrilled to welcome GlobalConnect to the Danish Quantum Community (DQC)
