Last week, the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) reached a historic milestone with the launch of its first Master’s programme in Quantum Computing.
The programme combines advanced theoretical foundations with hands-on quantum programming and is designed for students with backgrounds in physics, computer science, mathematics or artificial intelligence.
Professor Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen, Head of the Centre for Quantum Mathematics at SDU and Board Member of DQC, shared his excitement:
“It is a pleasure to welcome the first cohort of students to our new quantum master’s programme. We look forward to educating them based on our unique expertise in Quantum Mathematics, Quantum Algorithms, and Quantum Software. By the summer of 2027, these students will graduate ready to program across different quantum hardware platforms—just as the hardware industry foresees the first applications of quantum advantage.”
At DQC, we are equally enthusiastic about this important step for the Danish quantum ecosystem. Building strong talent pipelines is essential for the field’s growth, and we are delighted to see the first cohort begin their journey. We look forward to many more students following in their footsteps, helping to secure a quantum-ready future for Denmark.
Are you next year’s quantum talent?
Applications are now open for both international and national students starting in September 2026:
- Non-EU/EEA or Swiss applicants: Deadline – February 1st
- EU/EEA or Swiss applicants: Deadline – March 1st
