The investment will focus on strengthening research in quantum mathematics, quantum algorithms and quantum software
In June, the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) announced a major investment of DKK 50 million in a new research initiative focused on strengthening research in quantum mathematics, quantum algorithms and quantum software. The investment is anchored at the Centre for Quantum Mathematics and builds on its strong foundation and significant international research profile quantum research. Besides a strong research core, the centre has also contributed to the development of quantum ecosystem actors such as DQC-partner Qpurpose, specialising in quantum algorithms.
On SDU’s investments in quantum technology, Professor and Director of Centre for Quantum Mathematics, CEO and founder of Qpurpose and DQC board-member, Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen says:
“Quantum technologies are rapidly becoming a defining factor in global competitiveness and technological sovereignty. This investment enables us to accelerate scientific breakthroughs, attract the world’s leading researchers, and strengthen the bridge between fundamental research and industrial innovation within the fields of quantum mathematics, quantum algorithms and quantum software,”
SDU Rector Jens Ringsmose compared the initiative to the development of Denmark’s world-leading robotics cluster, anchored in Odense and at SDU. He emphasised that bold strategic decisions and long-term investments are essential for securing a leading position in future technology markets.
The investment will support a range of activities, including recruitment, talent development, strategic partnerships, and other initiatives aimed at realizing the significant potential of quantum technologies and other critical research areas.
