At the Discover MAGNE event, QuNorth launched the Flagship Quantum Research Projects
The Discover MAGNE event brought together stakeholders from across the Danish quantum ecosystem to learn more about MAGNE – the level 2 quantum computer set to become the world’s most powerful commercial quantum computer to date. MAGNE is developed in collaboration with Microsoft and Atom Computing, supported by EIFO and Novo Nordisk Foundation investments.
However: the event also marked the launch of the QuNorth’s Flagship Program which aims to accelerate quantum innovation across the Nordic region and bring together researchers, innovators, and industry teams to accelerate progress on some of the most impactful challenges.
How the Flagship Challenge Works
Project teams admitted to the program receive exclusive early access to MAGNE, enabling them to conduct hands on experimentation, run performance benchmarks, and validate algorithms and applications on real hardware.
Both researchers, startups and/or industry teams based in the Nordic region can apply. QuNorth emphasizes an ideal team profile in cross-disciplinary teams that are based in the Nordic region and can commit to implementation and benchmarking. Read more about the application process here: QuNorth.
The submission window runs from 26th January 2026 to 12th June 2026, followed by a review, shortlisting, and project maturation process. The winners will be announced in November, due to start using MAGNE in the start of 2027 ✨
We are very excitied to follow the process and see this challenge as a true breakthrough in the infrastructure and capabilities in the Danish quantum ecosystem.
