Today marks a milestone for Danish and global quantum innovation with the launch of a new national quantum investment fund, announced by the Danish government, EIFO, and Novo Holdings
The fund will be the world’s largest quantum dedicated VC fund. It will play a pivotal role in financing and scaling quantum technology companies in Denmark and beyond, strengthening the foundation for what is often referred to as the “Second Quantum Revolution.” The fund will invest across all start-up stages and broaden its scope to include enabling quantum technologies.
As part of the second phase of Denmark’s national quantum strategy launched in 2023, the fund aims to raise €300 million. It begins with €134 million already secured for investment. 55North has made its first two investments in Finnish company IQM, which develops quantum computers, and German company Kiutra, specializing in cryostats.
55North will bring in world-class experience: managing is Dr. Owen Lozman, alongside general partners in Dr. Kai Hudek and Dr. Helmut Katzgraber. This team brings to the table experience as seasoned investors and quantum technologists that combines deep scientific insight with venture execution rigour.
Partnering with DQC to foster drive in quantum
We can also announce that 55North has joined DQC as a partner.
