We are pleased
to announce SYMBION as a new partner of DQC!
Symbion is Denmark’s largest business
environment for innovative companies. It was founded in 1986 by three scientists
who wanted to establish a framework for stronger collaboration between academia
and industry and create a vibrant innovation ecosystem to support aspiring
entrepreneurs.
Today, Symbion operates as a non‑profit private
limited company, co‑owned by the Symbion Foundation, University of Copenhagen
(KU), Copenhagen Business School (CBS), and private investors.
Optimal environment for startups and
entrepreneurs
Since the beginning, Symbion has aimed to
provide optimal environments for startups and entrepreneurs. Symbion not only
offers attractive office and specialized laboratory facilities but also access
to a wider community where startups and entrepreneurs can engage in events and
have several opportunities to build their network and create new business
partnerships.
Today, Symbion manages five locations in
Copenhagen including one at Østerbro, one at Frederiksberg, one at Vesterbro,
and two at the University of Copenhagen’s North Campus and South Campus,
respectively.
Symbion’s
five Copenhagen locations each specialize in different focus areas, with
several dedicated to deep tech, life science, and high-tech innovation — fields
that require not only specialized infrastructure but also a supportive
ecosystem. By clustering companies in similar sectors, Symbion enables more
targeted networking and collaboration, increasing the chances of synergy, joint
ventures, and shared solutions to complex challenges.
Quantum as a new focus area
Symbion has had a strong focus on IT and Life science up to now, but with increasing investments in quantum R&D in Denmark and a growing number of quantum companies, Symbion is ready to support ecosystem growth:
“As the quantum industry continues to
grow in Denmark and beyond,
Symbion stands ready to support the next wave of trailblazing startups and
scaleups in this space. We have already entered a collaboration with Sparrow
Quantum and are excited to welcome more world-leading innovators”
– Peter Torstensen, CEO of Symbion
At DQC we are
excited to begin our collaboration and look forward to strengthening the Danish
quantum ecosystem together
